Short Term Goal
After graduation, I will be taking a gap year to fulfill my patient care hours and working to save money for graduate school. Graduate school is very expensive and it is highly recommended not to working during those years. With that being said, I am planning to take an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) course at a school here in South Florida. I will be able to work alongside a team of students and be able to care for patients as we will be riding along with the Paramedics as part of our curriculum. I look forward to this opportunity and hope that I will obtain my certifications which is the first step. The last step would be to find a job where I can start applying the skills that I will have acquired during this semester-long course.
Travel
Traveling is something that I have always wanted to accomplish. I have been to the Bahamas, Utah, Nevada, Arizona, Canada, New York, New Jersey, Delaware, and Pennslyvania. All of these places are beautiful and I am so glad to have been able to see the wonderful views of nature and beautiful landscapes from each of these places. I was granted the opportunity to travel abroad during the summer of 2020. Unfortunately, that trip did not happen due to COVID-19. I was distraught because I was looking forward to traveling to Thailand and Bali, Indonesia. Although I graduate in December 2020, I plan to take another study abroad trip with the same destinations or new different destinations.
Long Term Goal
My lifelong dream is to become a physician assistant. I aspire to work in this career field because of the lateral mobility which allows the flexibility to switch between specialties. I chose this profession because I have a passion for medicine. I want to promote wellness and health on a personal leave and leave an impactful impression on my future patients. This career field is very rewarding and is expanding. During my gap year, I will be working on my patient care hours, studying for the GRE, and the PA-CAT. I will also be working on my personal statement essay. I hope to get in the first time I apply. Once I get into PA school, I plan to work diligently and focus on my studies After finishing PA School, I plan to take the certification exam so that I will be able to practice as a certified physician assistant.
